Camp America Goals

I'm leaving.
I'm leaving for America in just a few hours. At 11:30pm I'll be on my way to Cardiff (40mins), at 1am I'll be leaving Cardiff on the National Express coach to Heathrow Airport (3hrs). My check in time is at 6:45 and my flight leaves at 9:45, it's safe to say I'm not looking forward to all the waiting around and travelling.

Anyway, the point of this post is to jot down my targets for my two months in America. It's going to be an amazing two months and I definitely want to make the most of it!

1. Eat something I've never eaten before.
It may be something I've never tried or it may be something I don't like.

2. Participate in a sport.
My sporty days of playing football, hockey and netball are long gone, and I think it's really sad that I haven't kept up any team sports. So whatever it is be it ''soccer'', netball, dodgeball or whatever I'm gonna get stuck right in.

3. Swim in a lake/pond.
I've been informed that we swim twice a day at my camp and from what I've heard it's in a lake. I've never swam in a lake before.

4. Try something new.
Something totally new.

5. Keep fit.
I'm aiming on my days off to go for a run around the woods. We visit the gym twice a week and on top of that my camp also has a salad bar.

6. Help change atleast one campers summer.
Be it through encouraging one to try something new or eat something different. Be it curing home sickness or changing their view from negative to positive.

7. Make friends.
I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of new people from around the world. I'm looking forward to making friends with Campers and other staff. I'd love to make atleast 5 new friends to keep in touch with.

8. Make a fool out if myself.
I'm only there for two months right? And then I might never see these people again so I should do lots of fun things even if they make me look stupid.

9. Read and write.
I haven't had time to read in ages and I used to love reading. My camp has free time where campers can write letters to their parents and read. I want to use this time to actually read.
I recently bought a journal especially for documenting my Camp America experience. I'm aiming to write atleast once a day.

10. Say 'YES' more.
This is going to be a once in a life time opportunity and therefore I should make the most of it. I'm switching 'No' for 'YES' at every reasonable opportunity.

  1. I looked in to Camp America a while ago so it's great to see somebody actually going, If I wasn't going to university I might have tried applying. A little rude to say but I hope you can share what happens on your blog because I'd love to know what it's really like! Have fun and good luck!

    1. Hi Amy! I've done a couple of posts on Camp America but next year I'm hoping to go back again and then I'll write a post every week to give you a more in depth look at what it's like!
I hope one day you get a chance to do it!
